Welding Fixtures

Tooling for welding processes

Stable part location and controlled access to weld seams

We manufacture welding fixtures for manual and robotic processes, including large frames, bases, beams, clamps, locating components and interfaces to rotators or positioners. Manufacturing is carried out to customer documentation.

Fixture components

A complete structure prepared for production

01

Frame and base

Welded supporting structure prepared for datum machining, assembly and the specified loads.

02

Part location

Plates, pins, supports, stops and change parts to the customer's datum scheme.

03

Clamping and access

Mechanical clamps and working space for the torch, operator or robot.

04

Equipment interface

Connection to a rotator, positioner or station to the supplied interface documentation.

Manufacturing

A process combining welding, machining and adjustment

Multi-stage fixtures require controlled relationships between datums, clamping points and the production sequence. We handle the agreed package as one controlled project.

  • component preparation and identification
  • welding the structure in a controlled sequence
  • intermediate inspection and preparation of the structure for the next operation where specified
  • machining datum surfaces after welding
  • assembly and adjustment of locating elements
  • measurement, optional report and acceptance preparation

Process control

Tooling prepared for a defined welding sequence

01

Load the parts

Access to datums and supports follows the specified loading sequence.

02

Locate and clamp

Mechanical clamping elements are installed and adjusted to the documentation.

03

Weld in stages

Clearance for welds and tools is maintained through the successive process stages.

04

Release and inspect

The component can be removed, checked and the next repeatable cycle started.
